In operation for over nine years, SunTopia Films is a small boutique shop that works on projects for individuals with modest budgets, but is also capable of meeting the expectations of larger productions.
Owner, Darryl Harbeck, has 25 years of overall production experience. He's studied Directing, Writing and Editing at Columbia College in Chicago, his hometown.
As a formally trained editor with over twenty years of cutting experience, he cuts demo reels for Actors, TV Hosts, Production Designers and other creative types...as well as performing edits on promos, commercials, shorts and virtually any project.
Darryl also directs commercials, promos, shorts, TV projects and film. Currently he is Producing and Directing the popular "Conversations On Craft", a multi-camera show taped in front of a live studio audience. The program features Executive Producer and Host, Luke Yankee, who interviews Hollywood Celebs and Industry people. Guests of the programs have included David Lee (Creator of "Frasier", "Wings" and Writer/Producer on "Cheers"), Marc Cherry (Creator of Desperate Housewives & Writer/Producer on The Golden Girls), Adam Belanoff (Co-Executive Producer on The Closer & Writer/Producer on Murphy Brown, Cosby, DAVID RAMBO is a Writer and Supervising Producer of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", and Actor Edward Asner, recipient of seven Emmy Awards.
Prior to pursuing his interests behind the camera, Darryl was a theater and SAG actor. He studied improv at both the Players Workshop of the Second City and Second City in Chicago and studied at the Los Angeles Stella Adler Academy of Theater & Acting.
While in Chicago, Darryl worked for more than ten years (various crew positions) on big budget Film & TV projects as well as hundreds of national TV Commercials (Nike, Gatorade, Sears, Chevy, NFL, Toco Bell, McDonalds, KFC...and many more).
